STORY

The author
Marc Gysels, born 31.12.1964 in Belgium and author of the board game "Cycling Legends". More than 15 years ago the idea arose to create a new cycling board game. Over the years, the project has often been put on hold due to time constraints and other priorities. Moreover, given the many published cycling games, he wanted to design a game that would stand out above all released board games with cyclists.

Out of passion, a model was first made on which the board game was tested and based.

The assignment
The aim was to design a highly interactive cyclist board game with simple rules but with sufficient action options to influence the course of the game and provide the players with hours of fun. The game had to highlight different tactical aspects of cycling while remaining easy to play. It also had to be accessible to board game fans without knowledge of cycling rules to play the game. This would also make the target group much larger. The aim was also to provide top quality graphic illustrations and with the addition of miniature cyclists, increase the involvement and atmosphere of cycling in the game/theme.

The result
Today is the day and all the desired objectives are present in the board game "cycling Legends". Through this unique game mechanic, the game allows players to make different decisions during their turn and help their team against bad luck or other situations. The players can decide to help or hinder each other, or they can go for their own success. The graphic illustrations and drawings are of top quality and exceed all expectations. The playing cards contain no text, but their simplicity and beautiful illustrations make them quickly understandable and playable by everyone. The chance cards also add a dimension to the game. The "Team Management Board" gives players (among other things) an overview of their team's energy status, which is also an important part of the game. The dice are the variable that can also influence the game. And then we've added a few "out of the box" features that you're sure to love.
